Will Van Wettere (University of Adelaide) discusses 'Improving the productivity and climate resilience of the South Australian Sheep Flock ' in two main parts. The first part will describe the research been undertaken to understand the impact of heat events on ewe and ram thermoregulation, fertility and fecundity, both in a research setting and on commercial properties. The second part will summarise the outcomes of the on farm trials completed last summer (2022/2023) testing commercially relevant strategies to improve flock productivity. The research is supported by both the Sheep Industry Fund and the SA Drought Hub.
